Karol Wojtyla, Pope John Paul II
I lived in Poland for 11 years and I know how sad many of my friends there will be tonight. Pope John Paul II was important to all Catholics, but most of all to Catholic Poles. He denied that he brought down Communism, but he certainly contributed mightily to the liberation of Poland and the other nations of the former Eastern Bloc. He was a great man. RIP.
